Biografía

Benita Jones (formerly know as Benita Washington), is a Selma, Alabama native who entered the gospel music scene with her historic win in the very first Gospel Dream gospel search hosted by Bishop Paul S. Morton, Sr. and the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship, which aired to record ratings on BET in 2003. Her debut release, “Hold On” (Light Records, 2004) hit multiple slots its first week on Billboard Album Charts, including the number 6 ranking on the Top Gospel Albums chart. That album also garnered her a Soul Train Lady of Soul nomination for Best Gospel Album and the lead single, “Thank You” occupied the number three position on the Gospel Radio Airplay charts for three consecutive weeks. Benita gained more popularity with her work as a background vocalist for CeCe Winans (among others) and was a featured opening guest artist on Winans’ 2005 Throne Room Tour.
